2010: Broadcasting Yearbook ceases publication....
"A passing of a major institution in the broadcast biz: The Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook, formerly the Broadcasting Yearbook, was a dog-eared fixture on many broadcasters’ desks since probably before WWII.""A passing of a major institution in the broadcast biz: The Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook, formerly the Broadcasting Yearbook, was a dog-eared fixture on many broadcasters’ desks since probably before WWII."

"The publisher's website states that Bowker will no longer accept orders for the Yearbook as its publication has been discontinued.  The 2010 issue was the last. The near-$400 reference book, like others in the field, has been replaced by online data, which is often free. Three publishers tried to sustain the heritage of the Yearbook. At the end, a printed directory of an industry in transition was always out of date. " (Radio Business Report)
Over recent years, nearly all public and university libraries that held collections of Broadcasting weekly and yearbook issues have eliminated those resources upon analysis of usage; they were generally neither digitized nor microfilmed.
Most libraries disposed of the Broadcasting issues. A few sets went to eBay sellers, and the rest are lost to the general public with an interest in the history of radio. As a consequence, the frequency of inaccurate data appearing online and the consequent fabrication of urban legends has increased.

Because real information such as contained in publications like Broadcasting, Radio Daily, TV/Radio Age and R&R is needed by researchers and hobbyists alike, I am creating a "virtual library" online with Broadcasting magazines and yearbooks and other industry publications that I can both find and afford to buy... all in an effort to preserve the availability for study and information retrieval of these diminishing resources. Please treat this material as you would treat any library resorce and do not copy, print or misuse the material. By using this site you consent to respecting these usage guidelines.

This project is totally personal. It is not supported by the original publisher. "Broadcasting Magazine" is now "Broadcasting & Cable" and the Yearbook is discontinued.

makes errors and mistakes probable if not inevitable.  Tell me about them, and I'll fix them.
